Brain Recovery & Maintenance Protocol
Are you struggling to keep your brain and body in sync years after a traumatic brain injury or other brain-related trauma? Here you find valuable insights to help you navigate the long-term recovery.
This guide is continuously growing and getting better! It is updated based on the newest scientific practices and my own successful implementation of them. Last updated: July 1, 2025.
Twenty-five years ago, my future seemed extremely bleak. After a severe brain injury, I woke from a coma to a world that was unrecognizable. I was in a wheelchair, couldn't speak, didn't recognize my own parents, and struggled to understand anything around me.
Today, I stand as living proof of the brain's incredible capacity for healing and adaptation. I've not only graduated, traveled the globe, and built a fulfilling career, but I've also had the immense joy of starting my own family.
I live a completely independent life and don't rely on any medical products or services (like medicines, hospitals, or psychologists) for my daily well-being. Not alone because I avoid them, but as well because I simply don't need them to function healthily.
Instead, I use and recommend the activities, products, and services you'll find below. These have made a huge difference in my long-term recovery and throughout my life.
The approach I share here isn't just for brain injury recovery; it also works wonderfully for everyday brain health, as it's built on solid science and confirmed by my own experience as someone who recovered from a brain injury and continues to do so.
Just as recovering from a traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a lifelong process, so too is the daily brain maintenance required for anyone seeking to live an optimal life.
Successful recovery isn't just about completing therapies after a brain trauma. It's a lifelong journey of adapting to a "new normal." Your path isn't defined by the severity of an accident, but by how well you commit to caring for your mind and brain for the next 30 years and beyond.
In many ways, my brain injury led me to become the best version of myself – a powerful reminder of what's possible with determination, personalized strategies, and a strong belief in long-term recovery.
This protocol was born from my deeply personal and lived experience. It's a guide for anyone on their own long-term brain injury recovery (or brain maintenance) journey, offering practical tips and actionable strategies rooted in the very methods that allowed me to reclaim my life and, ultimately, flourish.
It's a testament to the fact that while a brain injury is life-altering, it doesn't have to be life-limiting. Instead, it can be the spark that helps you discover an even more resilient, purposeful, and vibrant you, even five, ten, twenty, or thirty years down the line.
